I plugged the MMC card in, connected the serial to some PC powered it up and pressed

That's not too bad for a start, although I guess I don't like the fact that a patched version of U-boot is flashed on the board (and I have no idea what this patch is).
If you connect at this point the DVI cable to some monitor you should see a beagle on the screen.
I followed the instructions from the A4 page:
mmcinit
fatload mmc 0 80000000 uimage
setenv bootargs 'console=ttyS2,115200n8 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw rootdelay=1'
bootm 80000000
and a linux kernel boots:

We'll see how to resolve some of those issues.
MTD errors are there because your 256Mb flash has not (yet) been "formatted". It is ugly, but it is not critical as it appears.
ReplyDeleteI had no video problems; I have an original Beagleboard C2 and a madeinchina HDMI-to-DVI cable and it worked fine on a Samsung 1440x900 monitor.
I'm sure it won't work (did not test yet) on my old cheap 1024x768 "DVI" monitor, which seems to be actually VGA monitor extracting analog data from DVI connector (Beagleboard only emits DVI-D data, thus it requires a true DVI monitor).
